The Winds of Warning

The severe droughts and the massive floods which are currently plaguing the earth may simply be seen as just random natural disasters, but could this phenomena really be a divine judgment? What about the hurricanes that continue to devastate the Gulf coast in America year after year? Is this normal? Is this man made? Is God behind this? I don't know if God is directly punishing the earth with all of these natural disasters that are occurring all over the world, but what I do know is that God is allowing these things to happen. And if God is allowing all this destruction then is it possible that we have strayed from God? Have we focused on material things and taken little care of our spiritual well being? In spite of all this I would say that there is still much hope for humanity, even if many of us have put the Lord on the back-burner.

The fact that the whole world has not yet come to an end is indeed a good sign and shows that the Lord is being patient with us. So maybe since God has been so good to His children we on our part should be good to our Father. I pray that God will give us time to repent. We have all made mistakes and have all said and done things we regret, but if we turn to Christ He will heal us. And that just might be the meaning of life, that is to acknowledge our faults and strive to overcome our problems. Even if we were born with certain iniquities its our responsibility to work on these issues. When God sees us struggling with our passions He will help us. For the Lord loves those who fight and work hard to overcome the wanton pride of the flesh.

God is love and mankind is sinful, but with Jesus we have an advocate in heaven Who, as a great high priest, mediates between God and humanity. We can overcome our personal problems with Jesus and in doing so are we restored to health: in both body and soul. And once we as a people are healed of our spiritual sicknesses, then maybe even nature itself can be transformed into a less turbulent force. Just as death entered the world when our first parents Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden fruit, so too if we modern people are brought into communion with Christ, then it is possible that the grace within us will spread throughout the material universe and nature will begin to serve the purpose it was originally created for, and the whole world can truly become a better place.

2 Chronicles 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
